Although Allison and Mikalen both grew up in nearby towns on the South Shore, they did not meet until 2005 in Brockton when Allison served as a Law Clerk to the Justices of the Juvenile Court and Mikalen served as a Law Clerk to the Justices of the Family and Probate Court. An unbreakable friendship was formed once they discovered that they had the same afternoon coffee break schedule.
For the last 14 years, Allison and Mikalen have remained friends and supported each other as each developed her career at different, well-regarded firms. Throughout the years, they hoped there would be an opportunity for them to work together.
In 2017, Allison led the way by leaving a boutique family law firm in Newton, Massachusetts and establishing her solo practice in Hingham, MA. In 2018, Mikalen left the Boston firm where she was a partner to join Allison as Of Counsel. In 2019, they co-founded Walsh & Howe with the intent to bring sophisticated practice skills, strong practical skills, and a sense of humor to their clients as they face some of the most stressful family situations. And after all these years, they still have the same coffee break schedule.

“As divorce is an emotional roller coaster, it was nice to have Allison as an attorney to walk me through the process. She is thorough, hardworking, and efficient. She always responds to questions and concerns in a timely manner and that was very important to me. She was able to exhibit professionalism and care in my case.
“Allison had my best interests in mind throughout the entire process. She was also not afraid to say what I didn’t want to hear. On a lighter note, she talks really fast and has a great sense of humor! I would recommend Allison to any one of my friends who needs help with any aspect of family law. It’s incredibly personal, and she was fantastic.
